Recipe

These skillet rolls make a delightful (and surprisingly easy) addition to any dinner table. Cooked & served in our FINEX 12โ€ณ Cast Iron Skillet they look lovely and taste even better.

Ingredients

  • 2โ€‹ โ€‹yeastโ€‹ packets, ยพ โ€‹ozโ€‹
  • 6 Tbsp sugar, divided
  • ยผ C warm water
  • 1 ยผ C milk
  • ยพ tsp table salt
  • ยผ C unsalted butter
  • 4 ยฝ C all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Baking spray
  • 1 tsp Jacobsen Flake Finishing Salt
  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Directions

  1. Preheatโ€‹ โ€‹ovenโ€‹ โ€‹toโ€‹ โ€‹375F.
  2. Mixโ€‹โ€‹ โ€‹โ€‹yeastโ€‹โ€‹ โ€‹andโ€‹โ€‹ 1 Tbsp โ€‹โ€‹sugarโ€‹โ€‹ โ€‹in warmโ€‹ โ€‹water, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  3. Warmโ€‹โ€‹ โ€‹the milkโ€‹ over low heat, stir inโ€‹ remaining โ€‹โ€‹sugarโ€‹,โ€‹ โ€‹โ€‹saltโ€‹ and โ€‹โ€‹butterโ€‹โ€‹ โ€‹until salt and sugar are mostly dissolved and mixture is โ€‹lukewarm.
  4. Mixโ€‹ beatenโ€‹ โ€‹eggโ€‹ inโ€‹toโ€‹ โ€‹theโ€‹ โ€‹yeastโ€‹ and sugar water solution.โ€‹ โ€‹
  5. Combineโ€‹ โ€‹theโ€‹ โ€‹yeastโ€‹ & egg โ€‹mixture,โ€‹ โ€‹theโ€‹ โ€‹milk mixture,โ€‹ โ€‹andโ€‹ โ€‹allโ€‹ โ€‹ofโ€‹ โ€‹theโ€‹ โ€‹flour.โ€‹ Stirโ€‹ โ€‹toโ€‹ โ€‹combineโ€‹ โ€‹well, cover and let rest (15 mins).
  6. Usingโ€‹ โ€‹aโ€‹ โ€‹standโ€‹ โ€‹mixerโ€‹ โ€‹withโ€‹ โ€‹aโ€‹ โ€‹doughโ€‹ โ€‹hook,โ€‹ โ€‹kneadโ€‹ โ€‹the doughโ€‹ โ€‹forโ€‹ โ€‹5โ€‹ โ€‹minutes.
  7. Onโ€‹ โ€‹aโ€‹ โ€‹flouredโ€‹ โ€‹surface,โ€‹ โ€‹rollโ€‹ โ€‹outโ€‹ โ€‹theโ€‹ โ€‹doughโ€‹ โ€‹andโ€‹ โ€‹and divideโ€‹ โ€‹itโ€‹ equally โ€‹intoโ€‹ 15-โ€‹18โ€‹ โ€‹balls, between golf ball and tennis ball in size. Coverโ€‹ โ€‹andโ€‹ โ€‹let riseโ€‹ โ€‹forโ€‹ โ€‹25โ€‹-30 โ€‹minutes at room temperature.
  8. โ€‹Applyโ€‹โ€‹ โ€‹bakingโ€‹ โ€‹sprayโ€‹ evenly to a FINEX 12โ€ณ Cast Iron Skillet then arrangeโ€‹ โ€‹theโ€‹ โ€‹doughโ€‹ โ€‹balls in the skillet, gently resting against each other and the edges of the skillet.
  9. Sprinkle the rolls with Jacobsen Flake Finishing Salt. Bake for 18-25 minutes, or until the surface of the rolls turns golden brown. Brush with melted butter and serve warm. Enjoy!
